SkinBuddy Terms and Conditions

1. Introduction
Welcome to SkinBuddy! SkinBuddy is a project of D-Labs FZCO, a company based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. By accessing or using our app, you agree to comply with these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not use our services.
2. Informational Purpose and Medical Disclaimer
SkinBuddy provides informational content about skincare and makeup products to help users make informed decisions. However, this information is for general knowledge only and should not be considered medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a healthcare professional for medical concerns or conditions. SkinBuddy is not responsible for any decisions users make based on the information provided in the app.
3. Ingredient Information Disclaimer
While we aim to provide accurate and up-to-date information about product ingredients, the data is based on the manufacturer’s information available at the time of analysis. Product formulations may change without notice and can vary by country. We encourage users to always check the product packaging or the manufacturer’s official website for the most current ingredient information. SkinBuddy is not liable for any discrepancies or outdated ingredient listings.
4. User Accounts and Registration
To access certain features of SkinBuddy, you must create an account using your email address. By creating an account, you agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete information.
- Keep your account information secure by not sharing your sign-in links or email, protecting your devices, and avoiding public or unsecured networks.
- Notify us of any unauthorized use of your account.
We store your email to identify your account in our system but do not store security tokens issued during the magic sign-in process.
5. Data Collection and Storage
We collect and store:
- User Profile Data: Including selected skin concerns to provide personalized product recommendations.
- Email Address: To identify and manage user accounts.
- IP Addresses: For security purposes to prevent unauthorized access and abuse of our services.
We do not currently use cookies, but we may implement them in the future, especially for integrating third-party services.
6. Fair Usage and Throttling
To ensure fair usage and prevent abuse, SkinBuddy may throttle access to its services for both free and paid users. We reserve the right to enforce usage limits but are not obligated to disclose specific thresholds.
7. Free and Paid Features
SkinBuddy offers both free and premium features. Paid features are accessible only to users with an active subscription plan. By purchasing a subscription, you agree to the pricing, payment, and billing policies presented at the time of purchase.
Platform billing: Subscriptions may be purchased through our website (web app) or through mobile app stores. Your billing provider depends on where you purchased your subscription (Stripe for web purchases, Apple App Store for iOS purchases, and Google Play for Android purchases), and your cancellation and refund options are governed by the applicable provider’s policies, except where required by law.
7.1. Payments, Subscriptions, and Automatic Renewal
If you purchase a subscription, you authorize us to charge your selected payment method on a recurring basis (for example, monthly or yearly) until you cancel. Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless canceled before the renewal date.
For web subscriptions, payment processing is handled by our third-party payment processor, Stripe. We do not store full payment card details on our servers. Your payment information is subject to Stripe’s terms and privacy practices in addition to these Terms.
For mobile subscriptions purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play, payments, renewals, cancellations, and (where applicable) refunds are processed by Apple or Google under their respective terms and policies, and we may have limited ability to modify or override those decisions.
7.2. Pricing, Taxes, and Billing Issues
Subscription prices and available plans will be shown to you at checkout. We may change prices or plan features from time to time. To the extent required by applicable law, we will provide advance notice of material changes, and changes will apply starting with your next billing period unless otherwise required by law.
Applicable taxes may be added based on your location and other information you provide. If your payment fails, is reversed, or is otherwise not received when due, we may retry the charge, suspend your access to paid features, or cancel your subscription until payment is successfully processed.
7.3. Cancellation
How you cancel depends on where you purchased your subscription:
- Web subscriptions (Stripe): You can cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings. In the Profile section, select Manage subscriptions to be redirected to the Stripe customer portal to complete cancellation.
- iOS subscriptions (Apple App Store): You must manage and cancel your subscription through your Apple ID subscription settings.
- Android subscriptions (Google Play): You must manage and cancel your subscription through your Google Play subscription settings.
Unless otherwise required by applicable law, cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period and you will retain access to paid features until that time.
7.4. Refund Policy and Immediate-Access Digital Services
Because paid features provide immediate access to digital services and valuable content, your subscription becomes active immediately upon successful payment and access is provided right away.
Web (Stripe purchases): Except where required by applicable law (including any non-waivable consumer rights), refunds are not guaranteed and are granted at our discretion in accordance with our policies. If you believe you are eligible for a refund for a web subscription, you must contact support within 24 hours of subscription activation.
As a guideline, a refund request made within this period may be considered only if your usage is limited to “light usage”, generally meaning:
- 1–2 scans (including both product scans and ingredient scans using your phone’s camera or an uploaded photo), and
- fewer than 10 product searches using paid filters.
Refund determinations are made in accordance with our policies and applicable law. If approved, refunds will be issued to the original payment method where possible. Processing times may vary depending on your bank or payment provider. Except where required by law, we do not provide refunds for partial billing periods, renewal charges outside the 24-hour window, or periods where paid features were substantially used.
Mobile (Apple/Google purchases): If you purchased a subscription through the Apple App Store or Google Play, refund requests (if any) are handled by Apple or Google under their applicable policies and procedures, and we may have limited ability to provide refunds for those purchases.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, by purchasing a subscription and accessing paid features immediately, you request immediate performance of the digital services and acknowledge that your right of withdrawal (where applicable) may be limited or lost once the service has been fully performed or materially used.
8. Usage Limits for Paid Features
Some premium features, such as the product and ingredient scanner, are subject to usage limits based on your subscription type. These include:
- Monthly subscription: Up to 100 scans per billing period
- Yearly subscription: Up to 1,200 scans per billing year
Scans include both product and ingredient analysis via photo (taken or uploaded). Limits reset automatically at the start of each new billing cycle. Current usage and reset date are displayed in-app. We reserve the right to adjust these limits to ensure service quality and fairness across users.
9. Intellectual Property Rights
All content available on SkinBuddy, including product information, graphics, and the user interface design, is the intellectual property of D-Labs FZCO and is protected by international copyright and trademark laws. Unauthorized use, reproduction, or distribution of any content is prohibited.
10. Limitation of Liability
SkinBuddy is not responsible for any damages, losses, or harm arising from the use or inability to use the app. The information provided is for informational purposes only, and users access and use SkinBuddy at their own risk.
11. Modifications to the Terms and Conditions
We reserve the right to modify or update these Terms and Conditions at any time. Any changes will be effective upon posting on the app, and users will be notified of significant changes via email or in-app notifications. Continued use of the app following any changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
12. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from or related to the use of SkinBuddy shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
